Concretely: a <em>distance-7 logical built<\/em> by <strong>101 physical qubits<\/strong> achieved <strong>0,143%<\/strong> error per cycle and a <strong>lifetime beyond break-even<\/strong>, with <strong>real-time decoding<\/strong> at ~<strong>63 \u03bcs<\/strong>This is tangible evidence that scaling up can yield increasingly reliable logical qubits\u2014an essential prerequisite for useful algorithms. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s41586-024-08449-y\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Nature<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"585\" src=\"https:\/\/www.photonics-italia.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/EraQBitLogici-1024x585.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-571\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.photonics-italia.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/EraQBitLogici-1024x585.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.photonics-italia.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/EraQBitLogici-300x171.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.photonics-italia.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/EraQBitLogici-768x439.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.photonics-italia.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/EraQBitLogici-18x10.jpg 18w, https:\/\/www.photonics-italia.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/EraQBitLogici.jpg 1344w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In parallel, Microsoft and Quantinuum demonstrated <strong>logical qubits<\/strong> with record reliability (<strong>14,000 error-free experiments<\/strong> on H-Series), supporting the transition to the so-called <strong>\u201cLevel 2, Resilient\u201d<\/strong> stage and pointing to thresholds (100\u20131000 reliable logical qubits) as the point where one can begin to speak of scientific\u2014and eventually commercial\u2014advantage. On the academic\u2013industrial front, other works have demonstrated <strong>four-logical-qubit entanglement beyond break-even<\/strong>, signaling that logical computation is moving out of the fundamental physics lab into an engineering regime. <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.microsoft.com\/blog\/2024\/04\/03\/advancing-science-microsoft-and-quantinuum-demonstrate-the-most-reliable-logical-qubits-on-record-with-an-error-rate-800x-better-than-physical-qubits\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Official Microsoft Blog<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/link.aps.org\/doi\/10.1103\/PhysRevLett.133.180601\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Physical Review<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Why it matters:<\/strong> without logical qubits that improve as scale increases, no architecture (superconductors, trapped ions, neutral atoms, or photonics) will ever run deep algorithms.
